Chers compatriotes,Notre cher pays, le Sénégal, est en train d’écrire une des pages les plus importantes de son histoire. Nous traversons des périodes difficiles, et des décisions fortes doivent être prises. Depuis notre entrée en politique, nous avons travaillé sans relâche à servir le mieux que possible les intérêts du peuple sénégalais et particulièrement ceux de sa jeunesse.
Notre engagement politique n’est animé que par le souci de servir notre pays. C’est pourquoi nous avions pris la décision de nous porter candidat à l’élection présidentielle de 2019.Après avoir dépassé le seuil minimum de signatures pour le parrainage, le bureau exécutif du mouvement AGIR s’est réuni le 25 novembre dernier pour faire une première appréciation de la situation.Ce préalable à notre candidature ayant été franchi, le bureau exécutif de notre mouvement s’est à nouveau réuni le 9 décembre 2018, à la veille du dépôt des candidatures au Conseil Constitutionnel. Cette réunion nous a permis de faire un état des lieux de la situation du pays.Et nous avons pu mesurer le caractère nocif d’un régime prêt à tout pour conserver le pouvoir, malgré le niveau d’impopularité inégalable du Président de la république. Cependant, malgré ce niveau d’extrême impopularité du régime, force est de constater que les conditions d’une alternance ne sont pas totalement réunies à ce jour.De cette analyse, nous sommes arrivés à la conclusion selon laquelle l’opposition doit prendre des initiatives fortes en vue de réaliser les conditions d’une alternance en 2019. Et que cela doit passer par une mutualisation des forces vives de l’opposition.Pour notre part, nous avons considéré que nous devons constituer l’un des premiers maillons de cette mutualisation devant permettre de lancer un signal fort à nos compatriotes qui se désolent de la multiplication des candidatures, alors que des offres programmatiques sont quasi identiques.C’est ainsi que suite à d’amples concertations qui ont suivi cette rencontre, nous avons décidé de renoncer à notre candidature pour l’élection présidentielle de 2019.A l’heure du bilan, je ne peux qu’être fier de la débauche d’énergie dont les membres, toutes positions confondues, militants et responsables d’AGIR ont fait preuve pour relever les défis auxquels nous avons été confrontés.En ce qui concerne le parrainage, en moins de trois mois, nos équipes ont collecté 67 591 signatures, dépassant largement le minimum exigé par la loi. Les compatriotes, notamment les jeunes qui se sont mobilisés dans les villes et les campagnes du Sénégal, du froid de l’Europe et de l’Amérique… ont agi bénévolement, avec passion et patriotisme.J’exprime ma profonde gratitude à toutes ces personnes qui se sont engagées dans ce processus. À ces jeunes, je leur dis que votre engagement a permis de montrer à la face du monde que c’est possible de procéder autrement dans nos actions politiques et citoyennes.Par ailleurs, durant la période de déploiement de notre mouvement, nos équipes se sont mobilisées pour produire un projet de société, fruit d’innombrables rencontres d’échanges avec nos compatriotes de l’intérieur et de la diaspora. Notre programme, le Plan Alternatif pour un Changement Transformationnel (PACT) a été un élément déterminant dans la collecte de signatures. Le programme était indispensable pour solliciter légitimement le parrainage de nos compatriotes.Mes chers compatriotes,Pour l’histoire et la postérité, notre engagement en politique n’est nullement lié à une recherche de privilèges ou d’avantages indus. Notre engagement en politique n’est mu que par la volonté d’apporter notre contribution au développement de notre pays.Aujourd’hui plus qu’hier, notre camp demeure celui du peuple. Et AGIR est un mouvement en construction qui transcende les élections et les idéologies.Notre objectif est d’aboutir à une masse critique de personnes, de compétences et de valeurs pour un véritable changement de paradigmes au service exclusif du peuple sénégalais. Nous invitons donc tous nos compatriotes désireux d’apporter leur contribution à ce travail titanesque à nous rejoindre pour construire ensemble le Sénégal de demain.Je voudrais du fond du cœur, remercier toutes celles et tous ceux qui nous ont fait confiance en nous accordant leur parrainage. Je sais que leur souhait avait été que nous soyons candidats. Mais qu’ils ne soient pas déçus, car nous continuerons à mener le même combat.Je remercie toutes celles et tous ceux qui ont financièrement contribué à la réussite de notre projet sans rien attendre en retour, si ce n’est l’espoir d’un SÉNÉGAL de valeurs.A vous, membres de AGIR, je voudrais particulièrement vous dire que je suis très fier d’être votre compagnon de tous les jours, votre frère, votre ami… Je suis très fier et très honoré de votre engagement.Vous êtes dignes parce que vous vous êtes battus avec vos propres moyens. Marchez droit, la tête haute, les yeux fixés sur des lendemains meilleurs.Vous pourrez toujours compter sur nous, pour que les promesses faites au peuple sénégalais ne soient jamais trahies. Vous constituez une équipe de convictions sur qui la nation peut s’appuyer pour relever les défis qui s’attachent à notre génération.Mes chers compatriotes,C’est dans un élan inclusif que nous avons décidé au sein de AGIR, d’enclencher un processus de décision qui aboutira à partager avec nos compatriotes dans les jours qui viennent, le résultat du processus de mutualisation que nous avons enclenché.Notre option est de travailler à rendre effectives les conditions d’une alternance avec la mise sur pied de solides pôles de candidatures.Cependant, nous tenons fortement à préciser que même si nous ne sommes pas candidats, le combat de AGIR reste le départ de Macky Sall du pouvoir. Ce combat sera constant aussi bien au premier qu’au second tour de l’élection présidentielle. La priorité absolue de AGIR reste la victoire du peuple qui passe par le départ du régime en place et la restauration des valeurs.Vive la République !
